Angry man Rajasekhar who has been working hard for a hit is now arriving with yet another family entertainer and this time, he has the sensuous Kamalini Mukherjee by his side.

Story

Sivaji (Rajasekhar) is a mechanic who works hard and comes up in life. He lives only for his brothers (Rohit, Aditya Om, Yashwanth, Raj Kalyan, Ping Pong, Master Bharath) and wants to see them successful as he challenges his uncle (Sayaji).

In this process, he also refuses to get married. Even the brothers are equally attached to Sivaji. However, persuasion from brothers and uncle Parameswara Rao (Jayaprakash Reddy) makes Sivaji agree for marriage.

The story takes a turn with the arrival of Manjula (Kamalini), both Sivaji and Manjula like each other the first time they meet. However, the problem is Manju’s elder sister (Jhansi) has a tough time with her married life living in a joint family so she is adamant that Manjula should go to a nuclear family. Parameswara Rao lies that Sivaji has only one brother and the marriage takes place. However, the truth gets revealed soon and this brings problems. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Performances

Rajasekhar was stiff as a stick and except for his usual plastic smiles and strained eyes, there was nothing extra or different that one could notice.

Kamalini looks starved and she has lost all that voluptuous charm and cute sex appeal. It is better she gets back to her original shape instead of dieting, her hairstyling was poor. Performance wise, she was up to the mark.

Jayaprakash Reddy was the saving grace for the film. His comedy timing and exceptional dialogue delivery manages to get few smiles and he shows good energy levels.

Jhansi gives an impressive act, though her role was brief, she is good with her expressions and body language. She has a natural oomph which is hard to resist.

The support cast (Rohit, Aditya Om, Yashwanth, Master Bharath, Raj Kalyan) had a subdued presence and they contributed in their own way. Brahmi came and went, Sayaji was not used to the fullest, the others didn’t have much to offer.

Analysis

The idea of speaking about the importance of joint families and the human relations is a noble thought but then it has to be conceived in the right manner to connect with the audience. While the storyline was good and was written decently, it is the narration and presentation that flipped. Movies like ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’ ‘Aadavari Maatalaku Ardhaalu Verule’ and few others have built that bond strongly so the audience is used to that intensity and depth which was missing in this movie. The affections between brothers are the key but there was an overdose of sentiment which sometimes defied logic and normalcy. In a way, instead of showing the good side of a joint family, the film ends up scaring the wits out of the audience looking at the attachments.

Drawbacks:
Here is a glimpse of few limitations

* All brothers want Rajasekhar by their side when they sleep, so he spends sometime with his wife on first night and comes back to his brothers to sleep along with them…
* Almost all of them are 20 plus but they wait for the brother to get them biryani
* All brothers wish to sleep along with their brother with their legs resting on him
* While at one end, Rajasekhar wants them to become IAS, IPS, Doctor, he ends up sobbing like a child and so does the brothers when the situation of their going away for few days comes.
* Kamalini gives birth to the baby but refuses to see the child’s face or feed with milk till the brothers return..!!

While the overdose is on the extreme side, the film has few sad points which might appeal to the joint family audience and will bring tears to the B, C center ladies. At the box office, given the huge number of theaters, the business of the movie may fall on wrong side.

Bottom Line: Strict ‘no’ for modern audiences

The comedy veteran Rajendra Prasad is teaming up with the deserving talent Sivaji for this new movie. With an element of Brahma in it, the film comes in with excitement.

Story

In Brahmalokam, Brahma (Rajendra Prasad) has a small tiff with Saraswathi Devi (Kalyani) and he decrees that marriage has to be followed by death. In Bhulokam, Sreenu (Sivaji) a happy go lucky struggling to pass his degree chances upon Swetha (Sonia) and it is love at first sight. Meanwhile, Sreenu’s friend Sobhan Babu (Venu Madhav) does a penance to Brahma and wins his heart. Brahma gives a pot to Sobhan Babu and tells him to drink it, that will give the power to read anyone’s fate. However, a situation happens and Sreenu ends up drinking it. In no time, his life falls in place, he wins the heart of Swetha. However, Brahma realizes that this boon is causing trouble to the law of nature. He along with Yama (Jayaprakash Reddy) and Chitragupta (AVS) come to Bhulokam to retake the powers. Whether they are successful or not forms the rest of the story.

Performances

Rajendra Prasad looks divine and he shows the serenity that is required. His screen presence also is impressive and many Rajendra Prasad fans were happy to see him on screen after a gap.

Sivaji is a talented artist and he does full justice to his role. He must learn to work a bit on his dance and a positive body language. He is a deserving actor.

Sonia looks naturally seductive and more than that, it is her sensuous voice and a husky dialogue delivery that catches the attention. She has a lot of potential and must be given more offers.

Venu Madhav gave few smiles, Jayaprakash Reddy was apt, AVS was witty, Aarthi Agarwal looks alright, Kalyani and Laya were suitable, Raghu Babu could have been better, Kausha looks hot, the others did their bit as required.

Analysis

The film is basically a socio fantasy venture and the director also gave in few twists. The bright side of it is the dialogues and the visual effects that looked convincing. Background score was impressive, two songs were melodious, editing was neat. The presentation was good but the writing could have been catchy. Costumes, make up and art department were trendy. While there are elements of fun for the mass audience and few elements for the family as well, since the plot gets revealed, the story becomes predictable after a while. The romance track was weak so that could have been worked on. Overall, the film works in bit and pieces and given the twists, the audience is busy but due to the lack of depth in the content and a flavor which is predictable, the makers must push the film aggressively to get better response.

Bottomline: Can be watched once

The tough taskmaster S S Rajamouli has come up with something lighter and entertaining this time and interestingly, he has brought in the comedian Sunil as the hero.

Story

A faction feud in Rayalaseema results in the end of the death of Ramineedu’s (Nagineedu) brother and he along with his two sons (Supreeth, Venugopal) vow for revenge.

Time turns 28 years and comes to Hyderabad. Here lives Ramu (Sunil), an innocent and somewhat unlucky guy whose parents are no more and is ousted out of his job.

His life takes a turn with a correspondence that he has got five acres of land in his hometown in Rayalaseema region. He decides to sell that land and sets off to the village. In this process, he also meets Aparna (Saloni) who is the daughter of Ramineedu.

However, much to Ramu’s bad luck, he happens to be the son of the man who killed Ramineedu’s brother and he ends up in their home itself. Whether he comes alive out of their hands or not forms the rest of the story.

Performances

Sunil has carried out his role with aplomb and he rocked with his dance. Though he didn’t show his regular energy levels, he was an apt choice for those innocent expressions and contained emotions.

Saloni was stunningly seductive. Interestingly, she hasn’t done any skin show but still the oomph factor was revealing itself. She has a natural sex appeal that can’t be missed while she is on the screen. Performance wise, she has given her full and scored good points. She must be given few more opportunities. Costumes played wonderful role for boosting her glamour.

Nagineedu is decent and though it is his debut performance, his act is justified.

Supreeth is standard, Venugopal looks sharp and has a strong screen presence, he can grow further. Rao Ramesh is hardly there, Kaanchi made his presence felt, Jayavani is okay, Sandhya and Anita Nath did their bit as required.

Brahmaji is effective and after a very long time he got some meaningful and meaty role.

Voice over by Ravi Teja for the cycle is impressive.

Analysis

Student 1, Simhadri, Sye, Chatrapati, Vikramarkudu, Yamadonga, Magadheera ...and now Maryada Ramanna. The success track record seems to be continuing for SS Rajamouli, provided this movie is watched without high expectations, rib tickling comedy etc etc etc. It’s an emotional and humorous treat now.

The film takes off on a sparkling note and in no time, the viewer gets into the plot. The momentum is quite high during the start and the emotional graph is maintained throughout.

However, there are a few hiccups during the second half but it is not that injuring. Rajamouli’s USP is the emotional package and he delivers it again. He was well supported by some charging background score, three foot tapping songs, masterly cinematography and professional visual effects.

Editing was crisp and the pace of the film was consistent. On the flip side, the script was predictable and the screenplay was smooth but it could have been tuned in a better way, the discovery made by Sunil could have been kept for the second half or during the climax to keep the mystery factor going on and give it a natural flow. Costumes and styling were appealing and art department was supreme.

Technically, the film has been made at high standards without missing ‘Telugutanam’. The audience walks in with a lot of expectations given the name of Rajamouli. Though he has not exceeded like his previous films, he didn’t disappoint the audience.


Bottomline: Worth a watch but better to see it with open mind and without high expectations

Review

Story

Seenu (Ravi Teja) always likes to be called as ‘Don’ Seenu since childhood due to the strong influence of the Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Don’. His only ambition is to become a don and this also gets him to the city.

Here, he joins hands with Machiraju (Sayaji) whose target is his biggest rival Narsing (Srihari).

Machiraju gives Seenu a task, to go to Germany and win the heart of Narsing’s sister whose marriage is fixed with the son of the super don Mukesh (Mahesh Manjrekar). Seenu goes to Germany and wins the heart of Deepthi (Shriya) and later, he discovers a twist which leads to various turns in the story.

What happens after that forms the essence.

Artists Performance:

Ravi Teja was his usual energetic self and his dialogue delivery with positive body language was enough to charge the audience. He scored well.

Shriya looks stunningly beautiful and just like wine, she is building on her oomph factor and natural beauty as years pass by. She has made a thumping comeback and will remain in the hearts for a long time.

Srihari was his regular style and his typical Telangana dialogue delivery will appeal to the masses.

Anjana looks okay and though she is not pretty, she looked cute in few scenes. Sayaji was standard, Ali gave few smiles, the characters of Brahmanandam and Venu Madhav were also hilarious and their tracks were well etched. Mahesh Manjrekar was moderate, Raghu Babu was alright, Kasturi looks sick, Surekha Vani was brief, the others didn’t have much to offer.

Length of the movie tests patience
No virgin feel in the story (it’s a beaten formula recalling the films like Dhee, Ready, Bujjigadu etc)

Final Analysis:

In a typical Ravi Teja style, the film is a racy commercial entertainer. The director included the elements of comedy, glamour and rich presentation in good proportions and it is a treat to those who are fond of time pass comedy entertainers. On the flip side, the film has few limitations which could have been tweaked. The length of the film during the second half could have been trimmed Ravi Teja seeks inspiration from Amitabh Bachchan but it is difficult for the front benchers to connect with someone like Amitabh since he is a fading personality in today’s time.

The content was not there as the take off is on a silly note (Dons worrying about their marriage alliances with each other) but thanks to the presentation this got covered up.

The climax was weak and especially the fight sequences which resembled some ‘Tamil Paithyam’, perhaps Ravi Teja is the only star in film history to jump inside a manhole and come out of it breaking the bones of baddies.

Overall, the film would appeal to the B and C center audience in a big way while the A center viewers who are fond of ‘Kick’ type films will also get attracted to it. The biggest asset to the film is Shriya who will pull crowds to the theaters. The dialogues were witty, the script was moderate, the screenplay was above average. Songs were a letdown but the background score was good. Cinematography was impressive. Editing could have been better. Costumes, art department made their presence felt. At the box office, this has the right menu to end up as a profit grosser.
